About Microblink
Microblink, founded in 2013 in Zagreb, Croatia, develops AI-based optical character recognition (OCR) and identity verification solutions. Its flagship product, BlinkID, enables instant scanning and verification of identity documents โ ID cards, passports, driving licences โ via smartphone, and is integrated into hundreds of digital onboarding, banking, and financial services applications worldwide. An interesting historical chapter involves Photomath, the camera-based maths problem-solving app born from the same OCR technology as Microblink, which later evolved into a highly successful standalone product. The core identity verification business continued growing in 2025: Microblink processed 2.9 billion identity verifications across over 195 countries and territories, a volume placing it among the sector's global leaders. The company's internal "Fraud Lab" generates over 100,000 images monthly to train and test its models, achieving a 100% deepfake detection rate in tests conducted according to U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) standards. In 2025, the company also published data pointing to a sharp escalation in AI-generated fake IDs and deepfakes used to commit fraud in banking, hospitality, and digital onboarding. The company's strategy is shifting toward what it calls the "Know Your Actor" era โ a continuous behavioural assessment model going beyond the one-time verification typical of traditional "Know Your Customer" approaches, to address new forms of fraud enabled by generative AI. In October 2025, the company strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Vanita Pandey as Chief Marketing Officer. Microblink has raised a total of approximately $100 million from investors including Silversmith Capital Partners and Innovatemap.
