waterdrop is an Austrian company founded in 2015 in Vienna by Martin Murray, with an original product proposition: concentrated effervescent cubes made from fruit, herbs, and vitamins that dissolve in water — Microdrinks — as a healthy, sugar-free alternative to traditional flavoured beverages. The concept is simple: drink more water, drink better water, reduce plastic bottles. waterdrop built a premium and iconic brand, with a curated product aesthetic (colourful cubes in minimalist packaging) and a multichannel distribution that combines direct e-commerce, flagship stores in major European cities, and distribution in premium retail outlets. The DTC (direct-to-consumer) strategy enabled building a direct relationship with customers and a recurring subscription model. The startup expanded its line beyond Microdrinks: reusable steel bottles, infuser capsules, limited editions in collaboration with brands and artists. Its presence grew from Germany and Austria to Western European markets and North America. waterdrop represents a successful example of a European consumer wellness brand with global ambitions in the functional beverages segment — a fast-growing market.
