About OMass Therapeutics

Founded in 2016 as OMass Technologies from Professor Dame Carol Robinsonโ€™s lab at the University of Oxford and relaunched as OMass Therapeutics in 2018, the company turned that research into its OdyssION platform. Its internal pipeline targets endocrinology and immunology: lead programme OMS1620 is an MC2 receptor antagonist in development for congenital adrenal hyperplasia and ACTH-dependent Cushingโ€™s syndrome, while an SLC15A4 inhibitor is aimed at lupus. On October 15, 2026, it announced an oversubscribed $310 million Series C co-led by Bain Capital Life Sciences, Forbion and Novo Holdings.

The Story

A spinout from Dame Carol Robinsonโ€™s lab at the University of Oxford, established in 2016 as OMass Technologies and renamed OMass Therapeutics in 2018, the year of its ยฃ14 million Series A led by Syncona.

Competitive Advantages

  • Proprietary OdyssION platform
  • Native mass spectrometry applied to difficult targets
  • Internally discovered pipeline

How OMass Therapeutics grows

Growth Strategy

Advance OMS1620 through Phase 2, generate initial clinical data on SLC15A4 and broaden the pipeline.

Distribution Model

Proprietary development with potential partnerships and licences; future commercialisation depends on approvals.

Moat (Defensibility)

Scientific know-how transferred from the University of Oxford, proprietary experimental data and integrated discovery-to-clinic capabilities.

Regulatory Context

Clinical-trial authorisations, safety and efficacy assessment and drug approvals in target markets.

Key Risks

  • Clinical failure or safety issues
  • Clinical-trial timelines and costs
  • Competition from approved or developing therapies

Strategic Insights

  • A $310 million round makes it possible to reach Phase 2 data without immediately relying on a pharmaceutical partner.
  • The platform gains value only if it produces clinical candidates that pass efficacy tests.
