About DeepDrive
DeepDrive designs electric machines around a dual-rotor radial-flux architecture. The same technical foundation supports central drive units, motors integrated into wheels and generators for hybrid or range-extender systems. Its work combines the motor, power electronics and manufacturing methods, with stated targets for lower losses, more compact packaging and reduced material requirements. The company was incorporated in 2021 by seven founders who had met through the Technical University of Munich's TUfast student racing team. They later gained experience at automotive and electronics companies before forming DeepDrive. The official team page names Felix Poernbacher and Stefan Ender as co-CEOs. Both the imprint and the European project record place DeepDrive GmbH in Garching bei München, in the Munich area. Documented primary funding from seed to Series B totals €49.3 million. The 2026 EIC grant is recorded separately. In October 2026, DeepDrive republished an interview reporting its first production contract with an unnamed global carmaker, with manufacturing scheduled for 2028. This is evidence of a commercial commitment and a future production programme; it does not establish that series manufacturing has already begun.
The Story
