About RAREARTH S.R.L.

Rare earth magnets are everywhere: in electric vehicle motors, in wind turbine blades, in hard drives, in speakers, in the sensors that make our devices intelligent. Yet the supply chain for these materials is one of the most fragile and geopolitically risky in global industry โ€” rare earths are extracted predominantly in China, the process is highly polluting, and the recycling of spent magnets remains marginal. RAREARTH, a Milan-based startup active in the circular economy, has chosen to work precisely in this blind spot. Its focus is the recycling of neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) magnets โ€” the most powerful and widely used permanent magnets โ€” recovering them from industrial waste streams and returning them to the production cycle as critical materials with a reduced environmental footprint. The potential market is vast: electronics manufacturers, automotive companies, renewable energy producers, and industrial component makers are all exposed to rare earth supply risk, and in a context of growing regulatory attention and ESG pressure, the availability of recycled alternatives becomes a competitive advantage as well as a strategic necessity. The B2B model allows RAREARTH to build direct relationships with manufacturers, integrating its process into customers' supply chains. Sustainability here is not a marketing slogan but the central mechanism of the business: without recycling there is no product, and without a product there is no value. In a Europe seeking to reduce its dependence on imported critical raw materials, startups like RAREARTH represent a concrete piece of industrial sovereignty. In June 2026, RarEarth also secured a โ‚ฌ2.5 million grant from the European Innovation Council (EIC), with the opportunity to negotiate up to โ‚ฌ6 million in equity, and was awarded the STEP Seal for European strategic technologies.

The Story

What sets them apart is their significantly lower environmental impact: they reduce the need for intensive extraction activities, lower carbon emissions, and minimize waste. Recycling rare earths helps reduce CO2 emissions by 76%, decreases dependence on imports, and keeps valuable materials within the EU. 01 / Our mission: High-performance recycled permanent magnets.
