Quentin Colmant and Jean-Charles Velge founded Qover in Brussels in 2016 with a simple but hard-to-execute insight: distribute digital insurance through the channels consumers already use daily, instead of forcing them to search for it on specialized portals. The concept is embedded insurance โ policies that appear at the right moment, integrated into the experience of buying a product or service, without ever requiring the user to go somewhere else. To make this work, Qover built an API-first infrastructure that enables banks, fintechs, neobanks, marketplaces, and large brands to integrate insurance products directly into their own platforms. A car rental service can offer damage coverage at the moment of booking. A neobank can suggest travel insurance to a customer purchasing a flight. An electronics marketplace can include a device protection policy at checkout. All of this without requiring the partner to build their own insurance capability from scratch. Qover handles this operational complexity end-to-end: from access to insurance carriers to compliance systems, from claims management to the digital user experience. Partners integrating via API receive a white-label product that is ready to deploy, scalable, and compliant with the applicable regulations across different European countries. The economic model is based on revenue sharing: Qover earns a commission on each policy sold through its partners, with possible integration and setup fees for larger clients. Since 2016, the company has raised approximately $70 million, building a partner network spread across multiple European markets. The vision is to become the insurance infrastructure layer for digital Europe โ invisible to end consumers, essential to platforms that want to monetize their users with relevant, contextual financial products.
The Story
Qover was founded to democratize insurance through simplicity. Traditional insurance remains complex, slow, and inaccessible to many. The founding insight was that digital-first insurance could be designed intuitivelyโbreaking products into clear components and letting customers buy exactly what they need. Qover became the platform where insurance feels as natural as other digital services.
How Qover works
Business Model
Qover is an embedded insurance platform that enables fintech, neobanks, and marketplaces to integrate insurance policies into their services. It generates revenue through a revenue share model: earns commissions on each policy sold through partners and can charge integration and setup fees. The target is B2B2C: partner companies pay for API usage and share premiums, while end consumers purchase digital insurance.
Revenue Model
Commissions on Gross Written Premium (GWP) distributed via the platform; fees for API integrations and custom operations services.
