About Proxima Fusion

Proxima Fusion is a Munich-based German startup and the first spin-out from the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics. The company develops fusion power plants based on QI-HTS stellarators, building on the Wendelstein 7-X programme. In July 2026, it announced a €411M round, bringing its valuation to €2.4B and making it one of Europe's best-funded fusion companies. The funding will support Alpha, a net-energy stellarator demonstrator near Munich, and accelerate HTS cable, magnet and engineering-system development.
