Powy

Powy — formerly known as TheF Charging — is an Italian electric mobility startup founded in Turin, fully operational since 2021, that designs and operates an independent network of electric vehicle charging stations across Italy. Its offering includes quick, fast, and ultra-fast charging solutions strategically placed in public and private car parks, supermarkets, shopping malls, and transport hubs, aiming to maximise convenience and accessibility for EV drivers. The most significant recent development concerns the company's ownership structure: a fund managed by Swiss Life Asset Managers acquired a majority stake in Powy, bringing the company into the orbit of long-term institutional investors typically more willing to fund capital-intensive infrastructure investments such as large-scale charging network buildouts. On the operational front, Powy's network counts over 100 charging stations in the Milan area alone, of which 52 are already operational and more than 60 additional stations are under construction — a pace of expansion reflecting competitive pressure in the Italian EV charging sector, also supported by public investment through Italy's PNRR recovery plan, which allocates over €740 million to charging infrastructure development with a goal of installing 21,000 public charge points by 2026, concentrated in urban centres, logistics hubs, and along major motorways. Powy is thus in an expansion phase backed by patient institutional capital, within an Italian EV charging market still consolidating, where access to long-term infrastructure capital represents a decisive competitive advantage over smaller, undercapitalised operators.
