Podimo is a podcasting platform founded in 2019 in Copenhagen offering original, professionally produced audio content via subscription, in a model similar to Netflix applied to audio: exclusive podcasts, audiobooks, and a revenue-sharing programme with creators that funds original content tailored to the European market. Podimo has raised a total of $224 million, making it the most funded podcasting platform in the world according to industry data, with its latest public round being a $48.2 million Series B closed in December 2023, led by Danmarks Eksport og Investeringsfond and Highland Capital Partners. The platform has surpassed 1 million paying subscribers globally. 2025-2026 brought a phase of strategic consolidation: Podimo strengthened its European leadership with the acquisition of Germany's Arc.Studio and a series of high-profile hires, including Georgia Brown joining as Chief Content Officer in May 2025, bringing experience from Netflix, Google, BBC, and Disney. CEO Morten Strunge stated the company expects 50% growth in 2026, expanding its revenue-sharing model into new territories — particularly Germany — with profitability already achieved in five of its seven operating markets. Podimo competes in a subscription audio market globally dominated by much larger players like Spotify, but has carved out a distinctive position by focusing on original European content and a more direct, better-remunerated relationship with creators — a factor that has let the platform attract and retain quality editorial talent in a sector where original content production remains the main competitive lever.
