About Payflows

Finance teams at European companies often operate with an uncomfortable contradiction: they manage millions in cash flows using fragmented, manual tools designed for a pre-digital era. Reconciliations done by hand, B2B payments requiring dozens of steps, approvals traveling via email, liquidity visibility always partial and delayed. Payflows, a Spanish startup based in Madrid, built its infrastructure starting from this daily frustration shared by CFOs and their teams. The company offers a finance operations and B2B payments platform that unifies corporate cash flows โ€” outbound payments, reconciliations, approvals, reporting โ€” into a single modern interface. The goal is not merely to automate individual operations but to give finance teams coherent, real-time control over corporate liquidity, reducing operational risk and freeing up time for higher-value activities. The finance operations software market for European businesses is fragmented and rapidly evolving. On one side, traditional ERP systems like SAP offer treasury functionality but are expensive, rigid, and difficult to implement for SMEs and scale-ups. On the other, traditional banks offer cash management tools that cannot keep pace with the speed and requirements of digital-native businesses. Payflows fits into this gap with an agile, modern solution designed for finance teams that already rely on digital tools. Madrid has become one of Europe's most dynamic fintech ecosystems, with a growing talent pool and increasing access to international capital. Iberian SMEs represent a natural initial market from which to expand across the rest of the continent. Payflows competes in a segment โ€” B2B finance operations โ€” where demand is clear, pain points are measurable, and customer retention tends to be high: once a company integrates its payment infrastructure with a vendor, switching costs are substantial enough to make churn the exception rather than the rule.

The Story

PayFlows was founded to address a market shift: platforms and marketplaces needed financial services capabilities but lacked the infrastructure to provide them. The team built an API-first platform that allows non-financial companies to offer financial services with minimal integration effort.
