Building a quantum computer is not only a challenge of theoretical physics or cryogenic engineering — it is also, in very concrete terms, a testing problem. Quantum chips are extraordinarily delicate devices whose characterization requires precise measurements at temperatures near absolute zero, using complex instrumentation and procedures that have traditionally demanded months of highly specialized manual work. As the quantum computing industry grows, this bottleneck risks becoming one of the main constraints on sector-wide acceleration. OrangeQS, a Dutch startup founded in Delft at the heart of Europe's quantum ecosystem, set out to address it directly. The company develops automated systems for testing and characterizing complex quantum chips. The central promise is a radical compression of timelines: operations that once took months using traditional methods become achievable in hours. This is not a marginal improvement — it is the difference between an R&D process that scales and one that remains artisanal. Delft is not an arbitrary location. Delft University of Technology is one of the world's leading centers for quantum computing research, and QuTech — its advanced research institute — has produced some of the most significant companies and technologies in the European quantum sector. OrangeQS emerges from this ecosystem with privileged access to scientific expertise and a network of potential clients and research partners. Its target market spans university and government research laboratories, quantum hardware startups, and the large technology players — IBM, Google, Intel, IonQ — investing heavily in quantum processor development. All of these actors share a common problem: testing and characterizing their chips reliably and quickly is a critical operational need. OrangeQS is not trying to build the quantum computer of the future. It is building the tools without which the quantum computers of the future can never be built fast enough.
