iGenius

iGenius is a startup founded in 2016 headquartered in Milan by Uljan Sharka, a former Apple Inc. consultant, specialising in conversational AI applied to business data analysis. The company's original product lets managers query business data — sales, operational KPIs, financial metrics — in natural language, without navigating complex dashboards or requiring data analysts, democratising access to corporate information. In 2024 the company generated approximately $20 million in revenue with a team of around 209 people, a revenue-to-headcount ratio reflecting a high-value-per-client enterprise model. The most significant chapter of its recent history, however, involves a deep strategic transformation: iGenius rebranded as Domyn, a name change reflecting an expanded mission toward developing "sovereign" artificial intelligence — proprietary, governable, and trustworthy systems designed for companies wanting to control their AI infrastructure without relying exclusively on major global language model providers. The shift in ambition is also reflected financially: Domyn is targeting a funding round of up to €1 billion over six months to support global expansion and broaden commercial operations. Eurizon, the asset management arm of the Intesa Sanpaolo group, has already taken a 2.6% stake in the company, bringing the round closer to closing. The iGenius/Domyn trajectory reflects a broader trend in the enterprise AI market: the search for "sovereign" alternatives to major U.S. foundation models, an increasingly central concern for European companies and governments worried about strategic technological dependence.
