Encord is a London startup founded in 2021 (formerly Cord Technologies Inc.) by Ulrik Stig Hansen and Eric Landau with Y Combinator backing. The company built the data infrastructure platform for physical AI: a modular system automating the four critical phases of dataset creation for AI models governing robots, drones and autonomous vehicles โ data management, curation, model evaluation and annotation. Data on the platform grew from 1 to 5 petabytes in one year and physical AI customer revenue increased 10x. Clients include Woven by Toyota, Zipline, Skydio, AXA Financial and Maxar. In February 2026 it raised $60M in a Series C led by Wellington Management, bringing total raised to $110M at a $550M valuation.
