About Electra
Electra is a French startup founded in 2020 that develops and operates a network of ultra-fast electric vehicle charging stations across Europe. Unlike many operators that simply install charge points on existing infrastructure (car parks, service stations), Electra designs and builds dedicated "charging parks" โ high-power hubs designed for fast charging within minutes, positioned in urban centres, business districts, and along major roads. Electra's financial growth has been among the most aggressive in the European EV charging sector: the company has raised over โฌ1 billion in total funding since its founding. In 2025, it closed a โฌ304 million Series B, entirely in equity, led by Dutch pension fund PGGM through its dedicated infrastructure investment vehicle. This was joined in July 2025 by a green loan facility of up to โฌ433 million (โฌ283 million committed plus a โฌ150 million option), underwritten by a banking consortium including ING, MUFG, ABN AMRO, Sociรฉtรฉ Gรฉnรฉrale, Rabobank, Bpifrance, and other French institutions. The stated goal is ambitious: 2,200 locations with 15,000 fast-charge points by 2030, with over 30 charging parks planned in France alone by 2026. Electra operates in the ultra-fast charging market, which is consolidating rapidly as EV adoption accelerates and operators with access to long-term infrastructure capital gain a decisive competitive edge over undercapitalised players.
