About Dex

Hiring technical talent has always been slow and inefficient, but the emergence of a distinct market for AI engineers, ML specialists, and quant analysts has made the problem sharper. These are candidates with skills that are genuinely scarce, in high demand from a global pool of competing employers, and difficult to evaluate through conventional screening processes. Traditional recruiting โ€” job boards, agency middlemen, lengthy interview loops โ€” is poorly adapted to a market that moves this fast. Dex was built as a different kind of infrastructure for this problem. The platform works as an autonomous talent agent: it identifies candidates, evaluates their skills and fit, and matches them with companies that need them โ€” all without the friction of a traditional recruiting process. On the candidate side, engineers register once and are surfaced to relevant opportunities without having to actively job-hunt. On the company side, hiring teams get access to a filtered, pre-evaluated pool of technical talent without having to manage the top of the funnel themselves. The model is success-fee: Dex is paid only when a hire is made, which aligns incentives cleanly across all three parties. The numbers behind the business suggest early validation of the model. Over 15,000 engineers have registered on the platform, and more than 50 companies are already active customers โ€” a meaningful two-sided network for a product at this stage. The $5.3 million Seed round, led by Notion Capital with participation from a16z Speedrun, brings in investors with both the European market depth and the frontier-tech pattern recognition to understand what Dex is building. What makes Dex interesting beyond its specific product is what it represents: a clear, early example of vertical agentic AI applied to a large, structurally inefficient market. Recruiting is a category where the human coordination overhead is enormous and the quality of matching is often poor despite that overhead. An AI agent that can do the sourcing, screening, and matching at scale โ€” and that only charges when it succeeds โ€” is a genuinely different value proposition. The talent market for AI engineers is only going to grow, and the tools for navigating it are still being built.
