DeepJudge

DeepJudge is a Swiss startup founded in 2021 in Zurich by a group of researchers with AI PhDs from ETH Zurich and prior experience as researchers at Google's Zurich office. The company built an enterprise legal search AI platform: it lets law firms index and query their entire internal document base — contracts, briefs, opinions, precedents — in natural language, returning precise, contextualised results instead of the keyword search typical of legacy systems. The product has won top-tier clients: Freshfields, one of the world's most prestigious international law firms, selected DeepJudge as a core component of its AI and knowledge management strategy. In March 2025, the company launched DeepJudge AI Workflows, extending the platform to automate multi-step legal processes. Financial growth has been rapid: after an oversubscribed $10.7 million seed round led by Coatue in June 2024 (with participation from angel investors including Gokul Rajaram and Michele Catasta), DeepJudge closed a $41 million Series A in November 2025, led by Felicis with participation from Coatue, reaching a $300 million valuation. The seed proceeds had already funded U.S. expansion and product development. DeepJudge operates in a rapidly expanding legal tech market, where law firms are quickly adopting generative AI tools to boost associate productivity and cut the time spent on document research — one of the most costly and least billable tasks in legal practice.
