About CognitionX

When artificial intelligence was still a topic for insiders, CognitionX recognized that a meeting place was needed: a space where entrepreneurs, researchers, investors, and managers could collectively understand where the technology was heading and how to apply it. Founded in London, the company has built over time a hybrid platform โ€” part knowledge hub, part community, part event organizer โ€” that has evolved alongside the AI market. CognitionX's original positioning was as an AI advisory platform: a place where companies could find expertise, learn from real use cases, and navigate a rapidly evolving ecosystem. As the market matured, the focus shifted increasingly toward events and community: CognitionX organizes conferences, festivals, and global networks dedicated to artificial intelligence, becoming one of the reference points in the European AI tech events circuit. The business model is built on multiple revenue sources: ticket sales for events and conferences, community subscriptions for professionals seeking access to content and networks, sponsorships and partnerships with tech and corporate companies wanting visibility in the AI ecosystem. Custom consulting and training complete the offering for organizations seeking strategic guidance on AI adoption. The B2B AI events market is growing strongly: every sector is trying to understand how to apply artificial intelligence, and the demand for quality content โ€” practical cases, benchmarks, applied research โ€” far exceeds available supply. CognitionX positions itself as a curator of this information flow, filtering noise and providing relevant signals to a professional audience. In an increasingly crowded field of generic AI events, the credibility built over the years and the global network of speakers and participants represent CognitionX's primary competitive asset.

The Story

CognitionX was founded in London in 2015 by Charlie Muirhead and Tabitha Goldstaub, both with backgrounds in digital media, startups, and building tech communities. The problem they set out to solve was not to create a new AI model, but to navigate the chaos of an ecosystem that was exploding: companies, investors, and policymakers were struggling to understand who was doing what and where the real value lay. The insight was that AI first needed a shared map, structured knowledge, and relationships, not just hype. The aha moment came when they transformed this need into a knowledge platform and then into a much broader community, from which CogX would also emerge. Thus, CognitionX started as an intelligence network on AI, closer to a media-data company than a pure lab.
