BTRY is a Swiss startup founded in 2023 as a spin-off from Empa (Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology) and ETH Zurich by Dr. Moritz Futscher (CEO) and Dr. Abdessalem Aribia (CTO). The company develops ultra-thin solid-state batteries based on a proprietary vacuum process that stacks thin layers to build batteries of any shape. The cells promise ultra-fast charging (โ1 minute), safety at extreme temperatures and a wafer-thin form factor ideal for wearables, industrial sensors and IoT applications. In November 2025 it raised $5.7M in an oversubscribed seed round.
