Alva Nutrition is an Italian startup founded in 2025 operating in the insect farming sector: the breeding and processing of insects to produce high-quality nutrients for human and animal nutrition. Insects are a high-value protein source with a radically lower environmental footprint than traditional livestock — requiring less water, less land, generating fewer greenhouse gases, and able to feed on organic waste, simultaneously reducing food waste. The startup develops farming and processing operations to produce insect-derived proteins, flours, and nutrients, entering a European market that remains emerging but is progressively regulated by the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority), which has approved several insect species for food use. Alva Nutrition aims to position itself as a vertically integrated operator across the production cycle — from breeding to processing — to supply insect-based ingredients to food manufacturers and sports nutrition companies.
