About Almetra

Almetra is a Berlin-based manufacturing intelligence company founded in 2022 by Maximilian Fischer and Silviu Homoceanu as a venture built out of Merantix, a Berlin AI studio, under the name Deltia. This year the company rebranded to Almetra, broadening its vision from a computer-vision tool to a full factory intelligence platform. The product combines video, machine data, IT systems and operator knowledge into a single source of operational truth: AI-powered cameras mounted above production lines process footage locally, converting it into structured data on cycle times, output rates and equipment utilisation, with no IT integration required. Worker privacy is built in: footage is anonymised and most data stays on-site. Almetra's customers include Bosch, Siemens Energy, ABB (which reports a 15% productivity improvement) and Aumovio (formerly Continental), and the company has been accepted into Google DeepMind's Robotics Accelerator and the Physical AI Fellowship run by NVIDIA, AWS and MassRobotics. In June 2026 it closed a โ‚ฌ16.3M Series A led by blisce/ - the fund behind Spotify, Pinterest and Too Good To Go - with participation from NAP, Merantix Capital, Robin Capital, Underline and Critical Ventures, bringing total funding to roughly โ‚ฌ20.8M after a โ‚ฌ4.5M seed round closed in April 2024. The capital will fund product development, US expansion and the build-out of the platform's robotics capabilities.

The Story

Founded in 2022 in Berlin as Deltia, a venture built out of AI studio Merantix, the company rebranded to Almetra in 2026, broadening its vision from a vision tool to a full manufacturing intelligence and automation platform.

How Almetra works

Business Model

How Almetra competes

Competitors

Sight MachineAugurySquint

Competitive Advantages

  • No IT integration required for activation
  • Local video processing with privacy by design
  • Validation with top-tier industrial customers (Bosch, Siemens Energy, ABB)
  • Access to Google DeepMind and NVIDIA programmes for robotics expansion

How Almetra grows

Growth Strategy

Expand into the US, scale enterprise adoption and broaden the product from analytics to a shopfloor automation/robotics layer.

Distribution Model

Direct enterprise sales to industrial manufacturers, with possible expansion through robotics partnerships.

Moat (Defensibility)

Proprietary models trained on industrial production environments that adapt to each customer's processes, plus an accumulating video data base from real factories of major industrial groups.

Regulatory Context

Market tied to worker privacy regulations and video data management in production plants, particularly in Europe (GDPR).

Key Risks

  • Long enterprise sales cycle in the industrial sector
  • Competition from established players such as Sight Machine
  • Dependence on customer trust around privacy and video data handling
  • Execution risk in expanding from analytics to robotics

Strategic Insights

  • A camera is the fastest, cheapest way into a factory, faster than deep IT integration.
  • Manufacturing intelligence is becoming the data layer for the next generation of industrial robotics.
  • Enterprise customers (Bosch, Siemens Energy, ABB) validate the product faster when results are measurable within weeks.

Lessons from Almetra

  • A rebrand can mark the shift from vertical product to platform, if backed by enterprise proof of value.
  • Privacy by design (anonymisation, on-site data) is a requirement, not an optional edge, in industrial settings.
  • Being selected by accelerators like DeepMind or NVIDIA can validate a technology thesis even ahead of commercial scale.
